Shin splints or medial tibial stress syndrome are the terms used to describe lower leg pain. The other symptoms of shin splints are tibialis posterior and bone shin splints. Tendinitis, stress fractures, compartment syndrome, high impact training, excessive training, poor technique or biomechanical problems, standing for long periods and wearing high heeled shoes are possible causes of shin splints.
